About Us

Velvet Energy UK was set up by Pauline Adams, in 1998 following a trip to New Zealand as part of a Nuffield Farming Scholarship. She found out about deer velvet rather by accident and heard first hand from many enthusiastic 'velvet takers'

As Velvet Energy is a small business and cannot afford a massive advertising campaign it very much relies on word and mouth - It now has over 7000 regular customers!

The company is the only supplier of New Zealand Deer Velvet in the UK and Pauline is passionate about ensuring it receives the recognition it deserves.

Doug Harkin, Marketing Director, joined Velvet Energy in February 2001. He also won a Nuffield farming scholarship in 1999 to study marketing and quality assurance in the UK and US. Originally from Australia Doug moved to the UK when he joined Velvet Energy and he and Pauline married in 2007

They are both passionate about velvet and aim to raise the profile of deer velvet in the UK.
